Interior Design Trends 2015
It's been another year, for the nostalgic ones maybe too fast, or too slow for those eager for change, for new - be it aesthetic, scientific or functional. We say that change is always good and welcomed, if in good evolution. Evosign’s team of designers and architects will take you through the trends in interior design for 2015. Trying to determine the key points for next year’s creations, the designer will summarize the entire year in a few words; he must consider the past, present and future.
We need to know the past years baselines and which of them were appreciated , as some of them have changed now - so we may change what we consider a pleasantly aesthetic evolution for the future and at the same time finding what is useful and popular with consumers. We chose to present summaries of what renowned international architects, interior designers and major interior design companies consider to be the new trends, as well as our conclusions on what we believe to be instrumental in 2015 for our customers.
The Sherwin-Williams Company has not only grown to be the largest producer of paints and coatings in the United States, but is among the largest producers in the world. Here are some images with mixed presentations of what they think is the point of interest in new trends in interior design for 2015: - Chrysalis (we look to earth and sky for inspiration) - Voyage (the sci-fi dreams of the past have become everyday reality) - Buoyant (exploring the secrets of the rainforest, fascination with the tropics) - Unrestrained (bold ethnic-inspired colors, designs and crafts to the bohemian lifestyle).

“2015 color palettes include rich, oil-paint canvas colors and deep, jewel tones reminiscent of old masters paintings to pastel influenced postwar hues, providing backdrop to 1950’s – influenced design. And, bright pops of color weave story lines of global travel and the best of science and technology.” (A Journey of Discovery - Sara McLean - color expert and blogger)
“This season, cooler and softer color choices with subtle warm tones follow a minimalistic en plein air theme, taking a cue from nature.” – pantone

“The color of the year – MARSALA - impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colors. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. Add elegance to any room by incorporating this rich and welcoming hue in accent pieces, accessories and paint. Marsala’s plush characteristics are enhanced when the color is applied to textured surfaces, making it an ideal choice for rugs and upholstered living room furniture.” – pantone

The Biennale Interieur 2014 took place as usual in Belgium. British architect and writer Joseph Grima (Space Caviar) was the curator of the fair. He questions housing as we know it: ‘The home, as we know it, no longer exists’. That’s why the fair hosts several projects that tackle this subject. These projects, coordinated by curator Grima, are all tagged with the SQM label.
Our current lifestyle becomes more and more mobile. Everything has to be easily replaceable and flexible, to answer to the needs of our new lifestyle. This openness comes with some sort of dematerialization, in a sense that everything can be replaced in the wink of an eye.
This dematerialization of living also shows in the way we express our identity. Where we used to create an identity with our decoration during dinner parties, we can now lean on several social media to create an image of ourselves towards our peers.

We colclude:
Mixing old and new styles together feels the right way to go. Contours are curvier and the color scheme is more discreet, with matte pastels perfectly set off with shades of gray. Metals are still popular, especially warmly glowing gold and bronze.
Natural materials, such as stone, wood and glass, dominate this style. One of the materials in the spotlight is white marble and we can expect to see more luxurious stone materials. Wood is the most dominant material for furniture in this style. White-painted garden furniture is perfect for the patio, but gray-colored ‘driftwood’ wooden furniture is becoming increasingly popular. Watercolor techniques, with colors running into each other, are used on prints and bring fabrics alive.
Natural colors will be prevalent. Cold shades of brown, in combination with granite, and with hints of leafy green in nature’s color scheme. Bright, floral, vibrant colors teamed with fresh shades of green, and preferably combined with white and other neutral colors. We’re still seeing a lot of organic patterns on printed fabrics, bright colors on white backgrounds.
